Canoeing the Adirondacks With Nessmuk: The Adirondack Letters of George Washington Sears
Published in Paperback by Adirondack Museum (March, 1993)
Authors: George Washington Sears, Dan Brenan, and Robert L. Lyon
Average review score:

Excellent Journal of 1880's travel through the Adirondacks
This is a compilation of stories written by George Washington Sears (a.k.a. Nessmuk) for Forest and Stream Magazine in the years 1880-1883. He paddled different custom built ultralight Rushton canoes each year, starting south of present day Old Forge, through the Fulton Chain to Raquette and reaching as far as Long Lake, Little Tupper Lake and beyond. His chronicles are enjoyable, easily readable tales of life and travel in the wilderness of the 1880's Adirondacks. It is full of details which are interesting to the student of Adirondack history. For instance, he allowed me to pinpoint the year of construction of the Grove Hotel (later known as the Deerland Hotel) on Long Lake, and to give me background on it's original owner.

Canteen Cuisine

Marco's Usual Insane Brilliance
Marco has come a long way since White Heat. He's grown, both as a person and a chef, but most importantly, as an artist. His vision is clearer, his sauces are more refined, his techniques more deliberate and defined. He continues to push the limits of modern cuisine, and has proven himself to be a master-hence his appiontment to the Hyde Park Hotel, where he earned the coveted 3 Michelin Stars. As a professional chef, I continue to draw inspiration from Marco. He truly is a focused, passionate, and driven artist-with just enough insanity to pull it all off with style. Look at White Heat to see his youthful side, full of rage, drive and determination-then move on to his later works to see his evolution into a mature, poised and disciplined artisan. In a word: inspirational.

Captives' mansion

Author: S. R. Slaymaker
Average review score:

Very interesting.
I was very interested in the book, and really warmed up to the Slaymaker family as I continued reading. The writer's style is very easy to follow, mixing the family history with anecdotes from the present. It really makes you want to travel to Gap, Pennsylvania to meet the current squire and his family

Caravan of Shadows

Authors: Richard Lee Byers and White Wolf
Average review score:

A great intro to Wraith, the Oblivion or even White Wolf.
I picked this book up because of the back flap, and feel in love with it...It makes Wraith seem more like a real adventure and less like a game of rules and rolling dice. I think anyone who likes supernatural tales with down-to-earth protagonists would like Caravan of Shadows...

Care and Repair of Shop Machines: A Complete Guide to Set Up, Troubleshooting, and Maintenance

Great book for tool tune-ups and alignment
I've been having some problems getting my jointer tables aligned properly, and happened upon this book by accident. What luck! This book is full of great info on tune-ups and alignment. John White goes in depth into the set up and alignment of primary power tools (jointer, planer, table saw, bandsaw, router table, drill press and miter saw). His writing is clear, easy to understand and follow, with plenty of very descriptive pictures. The book is very complete on each of the tools covered. I truly appreciated that he used many shop-built jigs and common tools to get things done.

Cartographies of Desire: Captivity, Race, and Sex in the Shaping of an American Nation

Excavating Our National Narratives of Race and Gender
Novelistic sweep combines with rigorous textual analysis to produce this compulsively readable excavation of our national narratives of race and gender. As Faery demonstrates, the stories by which we tell ourselves who we are twist, turn, mutate in response to the exigencies of the historical moment, yet the interests they have subserved have remained remarkably consistent.

Cat Silhouettes: 23 Black-And-White Pressure-Sensitive Stickers
Published in Paperback by Dover Pubns (April, 1994)
Authors: Dover Publications Inc and Sandbeck
Average review score:

Not bad for the price
This is just a little book filled with black and white cat silhouettes, pretty self-explanatory. You can use them for camera-ready art or whatever. I'm not sure what makes them pressure-sensitive, they look like normal stickers to me.
